Laney College Follow up on Safe Return to Campus

Dear Laney Community, 

I am writing with an update on our campus plans, which was also shared during my President’s Report in yesterday’s College Council meeting. 

On Friday, September 24th, the Chancellor announced that we would begin the process of bringing more employees back to the Peralta campuses.  By the end of the day today, those colleagues will have received notices informing them of the return date of October 21, 2021.  As previously noted in an email from me, our campus offices will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  To provide for a smoother transition, hours for the public will be Monday through Thursday (rather than Friday), which still aligns with those of our Bookstore, Cashier’s Office, Library, and Food Services.  

Next week there will be further sharing of information as well as opportunities for you to bring forward questions and concerns: 

Monday, October 11:  Look for an email containing answers to the questions posed during Monday’s District Town Hall meeting, along with the Forensic Analytical Consulting Services (FACS) report from the District Public Information Officer.  Both are tentatively scheduled to be sent on Monday. 

Tuesday, October 12, 12:30 p.m.:  All Faculty Meeting to be facilitated by Vice President Opsata, who will be sending out meeting information.  

Wednesday, October 13, 11:00 a.m.:  Question and Answer session for Classified Professionals with the Laney College Management Team (Details to follow).    

The remainder of the Fall semester represents an opportunity for us to transition many of our on-campus services back.  Many offices/services that are re-opening will do so on a hybrid basis, meaning that students will be supported both in person and remotely.  We will also assess student need during this transitional time and make adjustments as needed.
