Laney College COVID-19 Announcement/Announcement of Partial Tower Closure (July 14, 2022)

Dear Laney Community:

On Wednesday the 13th and today we learned that of two individual who were on the Laney campus who have tested positive for COVID-19. Per CDC and ACPHD guidelines, both individuals will remain off campus for at least five days from the date of the positive test result and may return once they are no longer symptomatic.

Additionally, as the two positive results were from individuals in common workspaces - the 7th and 8th floors of the Tower - the two floors have been identified for cleaning and sanitization. Also, effective immediately, all employees with offices on those floors are working remotely until Wednesday, July 20th. If you were on the 7th or 8th floors for meetings, appointments, college business or any other reason, you are encouraged to notify your supervisor and work remotely until the 20th as well.

Per CDC and ACPHD guidelines, one individual has remained off campus since the 13th, with the other quarantining beginning today. Both may return after 5 days if they are no longer symptomatic. Also, their information has been/will be forwarded to the County and as a precaution, with employees also working in possibly affected areas of the college being notified.

While privacy guidelines preclude me from providing additional descriptive information, please know that the PCCD Office of Human Resources has been apprised of the positive test result so that they can notify the Alameda County Public Health Department and Cal/OSHA. In compliance with our district guidelines, I will continue to report COVID-19 cases as part of our ongoing efforts to keep everyone safe and informed.
